Hey Guys!

Just checking in after the annual FIS tournament – the results were satisfying, as I placed 3rd in the PGS race and 2nd in the PSL. Although it’s disappointing that I couldn’t finish first, it’s assuring to know that I have a lot to work for and keep in mind for the next few months.

Both races were once again on the renowned “Dynamic” course. In the past, I’ve never been able to produce significant results on these slopes notoriously known for its steepness and icy surface – I would be lying if I said I wasn’t the slightest bit apprehensive going in – but the results definitely helped me gain some confidence.

As of now, I’ve been enjoying an off-weekend back in Tokyo. It feels great to be home as I’ve learned to appreciate the small amount of free time I have downtown. Since I graduated early in my senior year, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to snowboard everyday without having to balance a stringent school schedule at the same time – I couldn’t be more thankful. It’s been a blast.

Tomorrow, I leave for the 7 day national training camp back up in Gunma. I’m still slightly concerned with the bruise I “rightfully earned” from crash-landing and face-planting into pile of unwelcoming snow during the final in my race, but I guess that’s the price I gotta pay!

I apologize in advance to the fellow drivers out there on the highway tomorrow morning – the ink on my new drivers license has barely dried and I’ve got a full load of traveling tomorrow!

Cheers,
Asa
